Oct 16th, 2022 - 6:30-8:30, "Bring your own mushrooms" event

As we had to cancel various Nature PEI and Island Nature Trust mushroom walks due to Fiona covering our trail system with trees, including the walks on Oct 15 and Oct 16, we have instead organized a "Bring your own Mushrooms" event on Oct 16, 2022 at the Carriage House in Charlottetown on Oct 16, 6:30 - 8:30pm. The Carriage House is behind the Beaconsfield Historic House at #2 Kent Street.

No need to bring a mushroom to attend, but if possible we encourage everyone to bring mushrooms from their local woods, trails and yards and we will do our best to ID them. A few tips for those bringing mushrooms:

  • the whole mushroom, including base of stem, is helpful in making identification
  • old, over mature mushrooms and very young mushrooms are often hard to identify, something in between is best
  • make note of what your mushroom is growing on or near, its habitat
  • we would like as many mushrooms as possible to be entered into iNaturalist, so please take pictures before you pick and make note of the location. If you need help adding them to iNaturalist let us know, specially if we can ID your mushroom.

See you Sunday.
