Small adult in excellent condition despite marginal habitat. Sandy Live Oak Savanna w/some Thornscrub second-growth. Only the second of this species seen at this location in 40 years.
this produces what my family calls coco-burs, tiny spiky balls
on prairie hillside, in old fence line
Apparently narrowly escaped being eaten by another fish.
One of the "big" ones.
