Descripción
Resting on an understorey plant. At first glance, very closely resembled a bird dropping. The white hairs give it the appearance of being infected with an entomopathogenic fungi, maybe as a deterrent to predators...? Definitely the most amazing cerambycid I've ever seen!
Update: this species finally has a name! The paper naming and describing it can be freely downloaded from here: https://doi.org/10.54102/ajt.iv1x5

Is this little guy/girl okay? I've never encountered one sitting like this before. What is it doing? After I took the first photo it flew around for a few moments before landing again, still with its abdomen raised as seen In the second picture, though it's not as clear as the first.
Definitely Ophion sp. though, I've seen them around this location before.

Descripción
I know this as a 'wood rose' and my observation on the Greater Woodmead Estate is that it results when the Viscum rotundifolium (birdlime bush) or Agelanthus natalitius (lighted matches) both hemi parasites eventually dry or get so heavy and then fall away leaving this rose shape. When the sticky seed from either the Viscum or Agelanthus is deposited on the branch of a tree by the bird that has eaten the fruit, the seed immediately sends water roots down into the branch. This is all this hemi parasite requires from the tree. From this develops the mistletoe growths one sees growing in the trees
