Based on the bands, the adults are the same individuals I observed at this location in July, 2022 and reported here. At that time, Tim Dellinger (FL FWC) provided the following information:

Here is the scoop on the marked birds from Tim Dellinger of the Florida Wildlife Commission. I added the picture Tim sent of the rubber band before it was removed from the crane's bill

"Thank you for the sandhill crane sightings and pictures. These birds are part of our study looking at the survival and movements of Florida sandhill cranes in suburban areas and conservation lands. Not a lot is known about how Florida sandhill cranes use publicly managed lands and urbanized areas, so we are attaching a radio transmitter and/or color bands to a few throughout central Florida to learn more and re-sightings from citizen scientists help us in this endeavor.

We tagged both cranes at the park where you observed them. The female was banded in February 2021 and has blue over orange bands. We captured and banded the male earlier this month when someone reported that it has a black rubber band on its lower mandible, see picture below. We removed the rubber band and it looks like the beak will survive.

Photographed by my dad during his business trip. I wish I could've been there, there where so many insects and reptiles! Not to mention what kind of plants grow there too, many of the organisms in Pensacola seem exotic to me in comparison.

Clean creamy head and neck, with clear demarcation to warm brown of body. Speculum showed just the thinnest white strip at the trailing edge (see second photo), but no other white shows on the bird. Bold yellow bill with black gape spot and nail.

Merlin's call ID app kept giving me Acadian flycatcher, iNat is saying it's an eastern wood-peewee. I honestly can't tell one way or the other, but I must have seen about 10 of them on old 905 that day and have probably seen 20 of them since.
