This swap consolidates the Lupinus lepidus/aridus/sellulus/lyallii/minimus/volutans group into varieties of Lupinus lepidus according to the synonymy outlined by the Consortium of Pacific Northwest Herbaria Checklist (http://www.pnwherbaria.org/data/checklist.php), the Intermountain Flora vol. 3B, the Oregon Flora Project Checklist (http://www.oregonflora.org/checklist.php), and the Jepson eFlora (http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/).

This treatment of the group deviates from the version in Plant of the World Online which is based on an older treatment of Lupines that favors splitting these taxon into many species, subspecies, and varieties. Further revision may be necessary following the publication of the Flora of North America volume that covers this genus (10 or 11).
