Discover Biodiversity Locally, Tally Globally

GNP_hero_snapshot2015_04_02b

From May 15th to May 25th, people all over the world are documenting biodiversity for the Global Snapshot of Biodiversity 2015. All observations submitted to iNaturalist will automatically be added to this global bioblitz tally. Let's put Vermont biodiversity on the global map. How many species can we find in Vermont during this 11-day event?  Record every species you discover and add them to iNaturalist Vermont. You can see a live feed of the global tally, or our Vermont tally.

Susan's totally gonna catch me in species number... and I got all the easy plants already... nooooo! :)

No fair avoiding identifying my moths (if you know them)...

remember, birds do not count towards your species count. (just kidding). I've put in some birds lately but I rarely get pictures.

I put almost all my bird data in Vermont eBird, not in iNat. If I get a good nest shot or something, I will put it in iNat, but rarely. eBird is a better place for it.

yeah, i mostly only put birds in without photos if it's something unusual or a new life/year observation or something like that. I'm not enough of a birder to really do Ebird, I don't know enough of them. I have an account though becuase I went with another iNat and Ebird'er who was able to 'tag' me on their list which is neat.

Way to go team Vermont! We recorded 621 species. That was 8% of the world total! Vermont may be small, but we are packed with great biodiversity and naturalists to record it!

Also last I checked Erika was first for observations and third for species on the whole site during that time period!
