Seeing as the Rusty-patched Bumble Bees have been visiting the asters in the back yard, these flowers have become the focus of my attention. And since I was spending some time watching them, it seemed worthwhile to try to document as many other visitors as possible. In addition to the several Rusty-patched Bumble Bees, numerous Half-black and Common Eastern Bumble Bees frequented the flowers. A Carder Bee was a surprise. Another surprise were the two spectacular hover flies, the Eastern Hornet Fly and the Orange-legged Drone Fly. Not bad for an hour among the asters.
