I'm an ecologist living in central Virginia. I'm interested in understanding patterns in insect and plant populations, and I specialize in mathematical modeling and data analysis. My current research (with Rutgers University) is mostly on bee community ecology, and on measuring the importance of native bees to crop pollination. I did my PhD in Entomology at Cornell working on insect-pathogen interactions and population dynamics. I've been studying and photographing moths (especially Geometrids) for many years. Besides insects, I have interests in general natural history and forest ecology, and have worked extensively with birds.
