I am from Western Illinois and spent many summers while growing up camping, hiking, and exploring the Midwest, particularly Western and Northern Michigan, Eastern Missouri, the Driftless area of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, and the Southern Shore of Lake Michigan. Some of my fondest memories from childhood include exploring the wooded ravines on the Bluffs of the Mississippi river and climbing the tall, ever-shifting sand dunes of Indiana Dunes. I’ve spent the past several years in Vermont where I’ve earned a bachelors degree in Ecology from Sterling College. At Sterling, I had the opportunity to spend time backpacking in the American Southwest as well as the Sierra Nevada which deepened my fascination and love for the natural world and plants, in particular. I am very intrigued by the natural community concept and love to study and explore the myriad of natural communities in Vermont or wherever I may be. I hope to go to grad school in the near future to study how plant communities are changing in response to climate change.

Happy Botanizing!
