I'm a high school math teacher, and spent a really long time as an editor at the fantastic Bay Nature magazine (baynature.org).

The profile picture is an illustration by Rachel Diaz-Bastin of me in a Hamlet costume in the "Alas poor Yorick" pose except with a small fish, which went with an essay I wrote about holding the holotype of an extinct damselfish.
