I was that nerdy homeschooled child that observed the song birds frequenting the yard throughout the year and kept a record of what was there and when. My sister got me my first ID book and I was hooked. Fast forward a decade and change and I still love researching creatures, but it shifted to the underwater world as a scuba diver. Fast forward another few years and I took a job as a hydrographer and spend a lot of time on boats...aka a lot of time around marshes and coastlines that are full of birds. My love of research, photography, and IDing creatures met in a delightful melting pot! If an ID book or dichotomous key is the part of the day, I'm one happy gal.
