Graduated San Diego State University in 1978 with a BS in Zoology. My primary career was as a high school biology teacher for 23 years. As I began my schooling at community college I signed on as a volunteer in the Herpetology Department at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Eventually spent a couple of years as a paid collections assistant. When I began my teaching career I was listed as a field associate in herpetology. When that department closed down in prep fro museum expansion I was offered a gig in the Entomology Department by David Faulkner then in charge of that department. My task was to organize the spider collection. This was in the mid '90s. About 6 years ago I took early retirement from teaching to work part-time and now full time at the museum in the Entomology Department as a Field Entomologist. We have since worked a number of survey contracts locally and have been working on reorganizing and updating the collection of some 700,000 specimens of terrestrial invertebrates. My specialties have become the spiders of southern CA and the Baja California peninsula. Photography has led me to begin a review of the hemipteran family Membracidae in San Diego County and the Baja CA peninsula. We are currently working a terrestrial invertebrate survey of the Sierra Cacachila near La Paz in Baja CA Sur for the past year. It's been a lot of work and fun.
