If I have noted that an exotic species is a "garden escape" or "volunteer," please refrain from down-voting "organism is wild."
For Philadelphia and adjacent counties: Submit observations documenting any behavioral changes in animals (and plants) associated with the partial solar eclipse on Monday, 4/8 here: And take notes :-)

I'm a self-taught naturalist, birder since age 7, mycophile since age 20. As Conservation Chair of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club (dvoc.org) and Philadelphia County Coordinator for the Old-Growth Forest Network (oldgrowthforest.net), I wanted to learn botany (in the context of habitat management); that has taken on a life of its own.
I am administering the Bird Safe Philly Bird Strikes Project, part of the BirdSafe Philly initiative, to monitor bird-window collisions in greater Philadelphia. Bird Safe Philly was created in response to the historic collision event that occurred in Philadelphia on October 2, 2020, in which thousands of birds died. Please see https://www.birdsafephilly.org/ for more information; those who live, work, or visit in Philadelphia and surrounding counties please consider joining our project at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/bird-safe-philly-bird-strikes-project and help us identify which buildings pose the greatest threat to our birds, and collect data on the timing of collisions and on which species are most impacted. Thanks!
