Geoglossaceae occur in the Puget Sound region of Washington State primarily in Western Red Cedar(Thuja plicata) dominant woodlands during winter months(late December-early April). I have followed up with this personal/original discovery/theory and verified it as consistent for many years(first Geoglossum sp. observation with T. plicata beginning Feb.2011). Geoglossum, Trichoglossum and Glutinoglossum all fruit favorably in cold, wet winter season in slightly acidic soil habitat beneath Thuja plicata. Defensible Thesis.
I have numerous observations for the taxa on this list here on iNaturalist. The count lists 0 of 9 observed for some bizarre reason on this lists stats. If you wish to view my observations for this list simply click on my main/bio page species list(below my photo) and type Geoglossaceae in there or click the taxa below and click “view all” under total observations for each. All my observations of the species listed below have coinciding vouchered specimens/coinciding Mushroomobserver observations which I always post prior to backing them up here on iNat in my herbarium. Some have been accessioned into university herbaria, as well.
