Bobcat On Campus

Another camera caught a backward view of an earlier bobcat. With some tweaks in our angle and location, we were able to catch this photo! Interestly, this part of our campus was heavily burned in the Monument fire in the fall of 2021 and this area is very bare. We were still able to determine this was a heavily used animal trail and were lucky enough to have a few standing trees close enough to the trail to connect our trail camera too. Although, a bit far away, we are excited to have captured this photo of the whole animal!

Welcome to the Project

As part of a regional effort to connect students to and across the greater Klamath Mountains, we have developed (and are deploying) place based units for students. One unit, "Be a Wildlife Biologist" curricullum to some middle school classrooms throughout the territory. Some of the areas delineatied in this proect are specific to these participating schools and the images, journal entries, and other content are derived from student interest, analysis, and work. We have already observed how placing a trail cam on campus and collecting photos can spark a passion and excitement for wildlife, habitat conservation, and rich dialogue amonst students. We look forward to advancing this proejct and supporting a culutre of youth stewards as we move into the future.
