Poop Containing Garbage

I finally started a project for this and I found a few observations by other people around the world. Might be interesting to see which species show up the most. Likely Coyote.

New Projects

I started two new projects in addition to my scat containing trash project.
One for trees struck by lightning and another for recovering damaged trees.

It took me a while combing through Inaturalist but I was amazed at how many observations I found of lighting strikes. So cool!

combing Inaturalist

I have spent a few hours doing various searches on here to find observations of lightning strikes on nature.
I have run out of ideas for now on what to search for.
I find it interesting that I found no observations for Africa or South America. Either there aren't as many observers there, I am searching the wrong species, I am not able to search due to the language difference, or lightning evidence is different via too wet or dry conditions.

I did my best to search all the types of trees I could think of. The taxonomy tree is a bit difficult to capture all tree species.

I know there are probably a lot more observations, but the observer didn't include any wording in their description that I could search for. I did try searching via a couple different major languages too.

I am surprised at how many I found. When starting this project, I didn't expect to find that many. I also didn't add some observations that hinted at lightning but I could not verify from the photos. Some observations are just too much hearsay and speculation with not enough evidence.

Added Observations

I just quickly scanned all scat obervations in California and Colorado. Apparently I am one of the only people who finds scat with trash in it. I'm a little surprised and maybe my area is just doing a very poor job keeping animals out of the trash or there is a larger wildlife human interface.

If you want to help scan for other observations, you can use this link and change the location "Place" in the filter.

If you do scan an area, please leave a comment so we don't repeat work.
