Armadillos in Virginia?

I recently read a July 2022 article on Armadillos being Spotted in Southwest Virginia. Though I haven't seen any myself, the article states the Animal has been spotted in the counties of Montgomery, Pulaski, and Russell. The Animal's Range currently is in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee with no reported range within VA, but the article also shows a Photo taken in Pulaski County of the Animal.
All this information comes courtesy of Nancy Moncrief from the Virginia Museum of Natural History in Martinsville and Seth Thompson and Michael Fries of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, who have been keeping track of this slow-moving armadillo invasion.

Very cool article! Being in the southwest is very interesting - I would have assumed they would be more likely to come up in the middle or east. It would be neat to encounter the silly little fellows outside of vacations to the southern states.
