Habitat - Rural
How many? - 5
Additional comments? - we saw 2 of them first and saw another 3 within 100-200m.
Nest present - No
Behavior - Feeding
Black-shouldered Lapwing, known locally as Masked Plover, trying to lure me away from his (or her) precious eggs (shown in third image) with loud squawking and injured bird display. Both parents were enacting the same behaviour, although this one, (the male I think) was always patrolling near the eggs, while the partner was further away most of the time.
Black-shouldered lapwing - a number seen. Photos taken along Yellow Rock Road, Raleigh.
