What I thought were Wild Chanterelles at the very top of the Sycamore Canyon Waterfall. I now believe it's Western jack-o'-lantern mushroom, thanks to a suggestion from another user

Two clustered flushes in moist soil near bay laurel trees. Grey flat underside, wrinkly with no true gills. Black wavy caps ranging from 2-4” diameter. Thin flimsy texture, much like an elfin saddle or similar.
Massive flush of massive mushrooms! Some more than a foot across. Growing in full sun in wood chips.
Large fruits in wood chips in full sun. Produced in winter as well as spring!
