Berylline Hummingbird

poor quality image but best I could do at that time in 1997. The rufous square mark on the wing is diagnostic.
This was the 2nd Texas record of this species. Now (2012) there are 5.
I heard them squawking and expected to see Sandhills. They were circling right over the house but I had to run get a camera with a telephoto lens. By the time I got back outside they had moved north. Right after these pictures they formed a "v" and headed north.
7 black chinned male hummingbirds at my feeders this evening, they were most active between 8pm and 830pm I was traveling today so did not have the opportunity to watch before 7pm
I did not think this (female?) hummingbird was ever going to come up for air. It must have been trying to drain the feeder dry. Stayed at this perch on the feeder for over 2 minutes, most of time with beak inserted, until disturbed by another visitor to the feeder.
Several photos... in one the ruby throat stood out...
Feeder right outside of Greg's window. What a buzzing show!
female ruby throat or black chin?
Bad pic but show the bit of red on throat.
Juvenile male
The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are migrating through right now. We had about 30-40 come by yesterday in between rain storms. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo, the day was very dreary and this was from my phone through the window.
