The bird was hoping from creosote to creosote. The picture was taken near a body of water. Didn’t leave that the area. Stayed for about 30 minutes. Located at Indio mountain research station. Found at 1:00 pm on March 29, 2019
I'm trying to figure out what kind of humming bird this is. There sometimes seems to be a separation of the the feathers on the gorget and the head and neck, like a Calliope which is not expected around here. the wings seem shorter than the tail, ect.
I really only see Anna's and Allen's Hummingbirds, so I usually end up finding out my my humming birds photos are one of those (again!)
Appears to be a young one due to presence of down feathers. It was a very hot day and was resting by my front door. I brought it some water but didn't disturb it in any other way.
