Female found on Island Broom host plant in rocky canyon on Santa Rosa Island. No underside view. Will add subspecies ID later but this should be the threatened Island subspecies PseudoXerces that has similar hindwing spot patterns to the extinct Xerces Blue. Partly cloudy and windy day in the 60’s F.

I noticed this very large mosquito on a wall behind a bed in our house.
This mosquito hatched from larva found in a small pool of water in a dry stream bed in a forest. The coloring is gorgeous.
