Saltwater. Only two individuals spotted that day. Very exciting to see! They were between 1 and 2 in not including tendrils.
8 reddish brown tentacle bulbs. Budding medusa from gonad.
Medusa had an inverted shape. Moved like the blinking of eyelashes (photo 4, .gif). Manubrium opened to a flat disc and quickly contracted occasionally (photo 3, .gif).
I've seen an influx of these over the last week in March/first week in April around Nanaimo. I'm super curious what they are. Some kind of egg? Jelly? They're about the size of a dime.
