May be a new species for Texas. As they were described from S. CA and into Mexico (According to James Trager - Bug Guide)
Very tentative ID based on head size in second photo. Google searching simple descriptors such as colour and head size also point in this direction. The CSIRO lists one of these species as amongst the 100 worst pests and that had been in Australia for at least 100 years. Possible pest species nest and queen?
Similar to second observation seen at same location (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/153547042)

Similar queen and worker as seen in this observation at same location (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/153546990)
100% certain this is pilifera bc there is nothing else it could be
Is this a queen?
Picked up in Restoration Area 1999 in the Hole-in-the-Donut. I photographed it at Steve's house when we got back. It must've been crawling on me or in the PVC pipes we removed.
