Approximately 4mm length. Appears troglobitic. Caught in a drift net at a spring. Collected with permit and permission.
I’ve never encountered anything quite like this before. Any ID help is appreciated.
This organism appeared to be a butterfly or moth of some sort, possibly a White Checkered Skipper. It was black with white spots and bluish-grey in the middle. It also had white coloring along the edges of its wings. It was very good at camouflage, I almost missed it. It was also very small, about 1 and a half inches. This organism was observed near a lake.
