This was seen during the Whimbrel Count at this location. Sorry for the quality of photos as it was quite a distance out floating on a piece of wood. It was visualized via a scope and thus ID'd by an expert. Hopefully the shape and colour of the bird will help with ID. Sorry to make this so tricky. Help is much appreciated to ID.
Exclude the cormorant that photobombed the tern.
Seen swooping down to an open patch of grass, in a field of snow. Would return to a wire between flight.
