Found dead in corner of garage under a box.
Ashamed to admit I spent quite a while on the floor looking for his (apparently not-so) disembodied head.
Not sure how long it's been dead — the various body parts remained remarkably flexible, apart from the head which seemed to have suffered some physical damage and was glued down with haemolymph.

This is the greatest concentration of insects I've ever seen. Springtails in the Invercargill Estuary. Could be ten million or more in this patch and other patches along the beach. Really weird.

Posted some photos of one of these 6/7 weeks ago and another turned up this morning hunting flies on the kitchen ceiling. Its clearly the same as the last one just smaller about 3mm against 5mm. Don't think that its Trite planiceps but not sure its Trite mustilina either so might be an un-described jumper! I might call this one black stocking thighs.
