There is an endemic Nectopsyche at this lake, but this may be the more common N candida.
Best guess is graphiphora augur, although the orbicular and reniform spots are not visible
Caught in a moth trap.
Coll. #BW38
Yep lots of pics, as this might be the coolest moth I've ever seen. Definitely a lifer if accurate. Not reported in Michigan that I could find.
In Cirsium muticum in shrubby wetland. Hole in top of stem with frass, obvious plant damage from internal feeding.
Reared from Silphium terebinthinaceum in ~20 yr-old mesic tallgrass prairie restoration. Collected on 6/30/22, pupated on or just before 8/15/22; one eclosed night of 09/15/22; the other eclosed night of 09/17/22 (see freshly emerged individual). All captive observations marked casual but can be found in the group observations field.
In Baptisia alba in mesic prairie restoration. Plant obviously damaged.
Ventral view through a dirty window - didn't stick around for me to get any other angle

Flattened basal antennal segment makes a sort of visor over the eye. Shield over back of head, possibly prothorax extension? ID uncertain because of these traits.
Unfortunately not a good photo but after a first response of being excited thinking I saw a pine marten, I quickly realized no it’s a Fisher!
20 specimens present; three shown here are new to the tunnel (or returnees) since last visit on Nov 19, 2022.
In spite of the large number of observations I have for this species, this is the first one I've seen with its wings spread upward.
Heavy winds are blowing this one around in the first two pics. It's positioned much closer to the end of the tunnel than most of the Heralds will overwinter, which is generally the center 50% of the tunnel where it is darker and winds in this heavy wind area are dampened.
In black spruce (Picea mariana) bog.
First record for iNat in Michigan, though MPG shows several.

Second one at window, fluorescent light on inside.

Dissected, but genital capsule badly damaged by clumsy hands and too much caffeine. Here's the description incase anyone wants to believe me: apex of valve pointed with small curved terminal spine; ventral margin concave; sacculus angled; costa slightly sinuate; phallus with a single large cornutus.
Small size can be ascertained by the size of the plastazoate raft the pin sits on: 10mm. Wing length < 4mm.
I believe small size and maculation are diagnostic in this case.
Very strange, small arthropod that appeared to be a spot of lichen, moved around picnic table, perhaps hunting ants?
Lifer if accurate, and possibly 1st record for Michigan on the web. Nope BAMONA has a couple of records.

Stover Myers Mill County Park, Bucks Co, PA.
A caterpillar with a pretty distinctive capsule, found in a shelter of a folded leaf edge of Betula nigra. Note the parasitic wasp larva (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/131378372).

Hermine de très petite taille, très contrastée et à la queue très courte.
At porch lights after dark on partly cloudy night with temp 73-61F and light breeze. ID uncertain.

Properigea costa (Barrens Moth). Photographed at Fitzroy Provincial Park, Ottawa, Ontario on 25 June 2021. A thrill to finally see this very scarce resident species.
One of five observed at an alvar co-dominated by Sporobolus heterolepis.
H/T to @neoarctia for putting us on the trail of this cool species.
With @tyler_miller.
