There is a young male who, for the past 2 days, has been challenging the cock lizard for his territory. Although they haven't yet engaged in actual combat, the chases have been incredible. This is a shot of the cock, after successfully running the challenger off. Check out the color (or lack thereof) of his dorsal scales! I'm not sure if it's because he's stressed, exhausted, or a little of both, but it took a good half hour for him to return to his normal color phase!
I posted this because the only time I have seen an animal eaten like this, where the skin was stripped from the body, is when black footed ferrets ate prairie dogs. They turn them inside out and leave legs and skin. So I think this is mustelid prey.
