Eastern Tropical Pacific killer whales hunting bottlenose

My photos were taken off the coast of San Diego as this pod traveled roughly between Torrey Pines southward toward Mission Bay while we were observing them.

Was incredibly lucky: Sat down to watch these poppies for my first 10-minute survey of 2023, not expecting to see any bees at all, when almost immediately this beautiful bee flies in and puts on a spectacular show!

The gull caught a flatfish. A Great Egret chased the gull, which never let go of the fish. It took the gull about 40 minutes before it could finally swallow the fish. It folded it, breaking down tissue and I assume bone. It stabbed at the fish and spit the fish out many times before finally swallowing it.
