Huge spider, up a pine tree. Approx 8cm wide (including legs). Boyfriend brought it home for me (all the way from Wellington to Auckland) so I can't release it. Keen to know what this big fulla is and what he eats (otherwise it may have to be a trip to the freezer, unless someone in wellington is able to release him for me).

Looks like a male. Interesting red colour on its palps. Found in leaf litter - moves very, very fast.
