This bird was ID'd by experts at the time using these photos and measurements taken at the time. . It's remains now reside in the Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC in Vancouver. It is the only record for this species in Canada. It was found on the doorstep at the location provided after a pineapple express trapped cold air in our valley and created a layer of ice over about 25 cms of snow. It was thought that the bird had been blown inland and landed, thinking the area was a ship at night. This bird breeds in New Zealand

Mega rare sighting. The Steller’s was present 3 days in a row (at this point). The eagle has moved south from Newfoundland to the Bouctouche area. Who knows where it will go next, but what a privilege to see it. Here on the sandbars at low tide off Cormierville Marsh, you can see how it dwarfs the Bald Eagle next to it.

In a rather "stellar" turn of events, Lois Budd decided to drive down Klomfass Avenue on her way home from seeing the Sea Eagle at Rotary Park. And what a great idea that was! She ended up spotting the Sea Eagle perched atop a Spruce tree in someone's yard, very close to the road (50 ft or so) and quickly got the word out to birders, who were still in the area and dispersing from Rotary Park. Many happy birders got knee-buckling views of this superstar bird for about 15 minutes before he once again took flight and dissapeared heading in a northerly direction. !! I give this sighting 10/10 !! Would highly recommend! :D

Large eagle with dark head, large orange beak, and white bars on wings. The infamous Sea Eagle returns for his 2022 East Coast tour! Happy he decided to stop in NB again and this time only 30 mins away. Missed him on the Bouctouche dunes the day before and this morning, and the bird wasn't seen since 10 am despite many birders out looking, but luckily Marc LeBlanc managed to refind the bird yet again after it flew across the 134 from west to east and landed in a conifer tree about a kilometer or more out on the north east corner of the bay. Distant views but unmistakable bird. After about 20 mins , the bird flew south across the bay towards Dixon Point and we lost sight of him. Many observers

Female, first seen near bird observatory on April 7, 1990, and then caught in mist net on the 8th, and banded by staff. Noticeably larger than nearby Common Redpolls and with nearly un-streaked under-parts.
