My friend was walking and came upon this 4 ft Black Rat Snake coiled around a juvenile Broad-Wing Hawk. The Hawk was unconscious. He and his wife picked up the duo with a towel and untangled the snake. The snake had a small wound near the tail so he surmised that the hawk likely attacked the snake, but bit the wrong end. Big mistake! Rat Snakes are constrictors. The snake slithered away seemingly unaffected. The hawk took approx 20 minutes to recuperate and fly away. Happy ending for the snake - lesson learned we hope for the hawk.
The hawk had a purple band on its leg, but we don't know who tagged it.
A separate observation has been logged for the snake.

this hawk has hunted a Green-winged Teal at the rim of the pond and brought it to the orchard. It must have taken the Teal right at the edge of the water so the prey could be brought back to the orchard by dragging - it could weigh more than the hawk.
The first photo shows the hawk as I first saw it. There is no sign of the prey - either the hawk is perched on it or has put itself between the prey and me. The second photo taken immediately after shows the hawk turned around and standing on the prey. Note the feathers on the ground from plucking the prey and some of the down on the hawk's head. Photos 3 and 4 show the hawk dragging the prey to a slightly different position nearby. The following photos taken from about 2 minutes after photo 1 show the prey being consumed.

Female. Thanks to @rahopko for coming to confirm this and finding this female. Thanks to Bill Prather for coming and netting a male and for IDing more flying around. Bill told me that this is the first documented Plains Emerald in Colorado in over a hundred and twenty years.

For five consecutive days in June, this young hawk spent a lot of time sitting on my birdbath. It was not at all spooked by me. (I could probably have gotten even closer to it than seemed reasonable.) After the five days, I never saw it again.

Dark leading edge of wing from shoulder to wrist and red tail, both characteristics of red-tailed hawk. Dark wrists, dark belly and dark tail band, all characteristic of rough-legged hawk. Other characteristics appeared to be a mix between the two species. May be same individual I photographed in 2020.

Incredible battle over a prairie dog. When I spotted, Ferruginous (separate observation) was standing to the right. Mostly these two redtails fought while I watched but another 2+ redtails circled, made low passes, and landed. Also what I believe is a harlan's hawk (separate observation) stopped by. Of course magpies too.
