Protea nana

Sadly, most of the flowers had already bloomed. Nana - Well 'nanus' is a dwarf, but I am not getting the feminine declension so perhaps it comes from somewhere else (unless its one of those odd words with an ambiguous gender - my dictionary doesn't tell me).

Well, I am hoping I got it right. There were masses of flowers on the plant which makes it different from Leucadendron salignum, and it has the involucral bract had hairs on the edges, but was not hairy elsewhere. Leucadendron lanigerum var lanigerum.

Hakea sericea

An Australian alien invader, photographed here at the site of the charismatic Blushing Bride, Serruria florida. Hopefully bio control agents are doing their job successfully and controlling this menace.
