Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve bird surveys May-Aug 2008. Sorry for the huge circle, but I was in a constantly in different areas of the Preserve, and my notes are related to birds, not other taxa. But all these photographs were taken in the Pasco County portion of Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve.
Synanthrope found in Randers Tropical Zoo (DK: Randers Regnskov)
This guy had a blue leg and an interesting back pattern.
I had been itching to go blacklighting and had vegetation monitoring work in the HID on Saturday morning so decided to nap on Friday and leave in the middle of the night to blacklight before my vegetation monitoring work. I didn't get my sheets set up till after 2AM (by then the half moon had come out). I set both sheets up along the Gate 2 Trail in Long Pine Key. I had wanted to set up a sheet in HID restoration area 2020 but it was way too windy (probably over 8 knots with stronger gusts). The mosquitoes were somewhat light but picked up quite a bit after 5AM, when the winds eased up a little. I was honestly expecting more action at the sheets but maybe didn't set them up in the best spot and I'm sure the wind and moonlight didn't help. Overall not bad but I am looking forward to trying more spots in better conditions!

Heard singing coming from this area and spotted this conehead. I wasn't able to get a recording or determine if the call was coming from this individual or another nearby. Seen while walking the trail between my two sheets.

This larvae was in a butterfly tent. After a few days the larvae disappeared, and the fly appeared.
P. longus or milberti. It should be milberti because it has black hairs on the palpi. However, the wings are very long.

Young male Argia cuprea
When I wrote the description here, I was thinking of this individual that I saw. Absolutely stunning and almost unreal look to it.
As silly as it sounds when I saw this I somewhat could relate to how pre-modern cultures could have believed in (or at least come up with) shimmery, dainty fairies fluttering around through a forest.
Splendid day.
Presumably this species, successfully taking a Needham's Skimmer. Short video of this encounter may be viewed here: https://youtube.com/shorts/0S-IaeFn9sI?feature=share
New county record? Oh so close to Garrett County. Netted and released at the creek crossing at near the entrance to Cranesville Swamp.

I have no idea what kind of fly but Drone flies was only suggestion by iNaturalist.
Looked only like a tiny white speck moving on a firebush leaf until magnified. Looks like a combination of an ant lion larva and a crustacean.

Not sure if these are two different species (A. tibialis?) or different morphs/sexes.
