Mild flavor. Mild fruity smell when young, very strong fishy, rotted fruity, and unpleasant smelling after left in a plastic bag for a few hours. Almost like if you left canned peaches mixed with cottage cheese in a sealed container at the base of Mount Shasta for 2 weeks then opened it.
KOH @ 5% - Slightly pinkish/indistinct.
Ammonium Hydroxide - No change.

Address is 4682 Sierra Tree Ln, Irvine, CA.
I suspect it is growing on the remains of pine tree stump, although no stump is visible.
There are many of these mushrooms in this small area, but some have followed the sidewalk 20 feet away. This area had many Reishi mushrooms in previous years, but I did not identify or document them until now.
I have collected the individual in this observation, and a portion was sent to MycoMap CA Network for DNA barcoding. CA24-00972

Ascomata uniloculate perithecia with short neck (30 µm tall); spherical, erumpent, partially immersed, 100–300 µm diameter.
Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, 50 x 15 µm, IKI-; walls 4–6 µm thick. Pseudoparaphyses abundant, septate, 2 µm wide with clavate end 3 µm wide.
Ascospores hyaline, 16–20 x 5–6 µm, mostly 4-septate; centrally constricted, one half with two chambers and rounded end, other half larger with three chambers and acute end.
