October 27, 2021 Nature Walk ALP

Hi all,

I am so glad that we got to spend some time today in our beautiful community greenspace right here in Queens! Last time we visited Oakland Lake, summer was not quite over. Today, however, is cold and windy. For today's discussion, I'd like you to share your nature observations with your peers. What do you notice? What changed since our last visit? What connections can you make to something we’ve discussed this semester? What connections can you make to something you’ve experienced?

Finally, share your photos with the class by clicking this link and uploading your fabulous pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NqZqbosp6U7K3Ja18

Autumn is harvest season, golden season. With the arrival of the autumn girl, our environment has also changed, just like flowers and trees.
The leaves changed, they were green before, but now the tree has begun to turn yellow. Those golden trees are like a golden hill from a distance, the leaves swaying freely and dancing. They are gorgeous.
There are green, red, and yellow. The color combination and the clouds and lake become a realistic painting. It makes me smile involuntarily.
This Oakland Lake park is like an oxygen cylinder next to me. We need to protect nature and cherish everything we have.

The last time I went to Oakland Park, I notice that the lake was so quiet than the last time in the summer we went there because there were not too many people coming. I notice that the water changed into green color. I also notice there were a lot of geese (birds) swimming in the water, but I didn't see the turtle in the water compared to the last time. The leaves on the trees are changing from green to red, yellow, brown, etc. Last, at the end of the time, the thing that I pay attention to is that the color of the sun behind the lake. That was amazing. I have really enjoyed the fresh air of nature. The connection that I can make is that "the essay two" we're discussing this month in class we had to do, that talked about weather's changing.\climate change. This remains me of the time I went to the park with my kids in Springfield Gardens.

The previous week that we went to Oakland Lake I could tell that autumn has arrived, by the change of color of leaves like orange, yellow and red in the trees, and to see some trees without leaves, I also noticed that turtles were no longer in the water as last time because of the change of weather. I liked doing this hike because you can feel the fresh air that is out there and it feels very peaceful to walk through nature.

Some clear observations just based off of looking around autumn has arrived and the colors of the leaves on trees have changed. There are hints of yellow and red all over the park. Our visit prior to our last visit to Oakland lake there was a lot more green. The colors changing indicate change in the seasons just like transition words indicate that we're either moving in to another topic or ending off what we're writing. Something that connects to my own experience is that change is inevitable and we all must go through it whether it's change in our daily routines or change in our appearance at the end of the day we can't escape it.

This week I have walked in Oakland Lake and seen many differences than last time. For example, I have seen more ducks and swans climbing ashore than before; I wonder the lake is too cold? The green leaves of many trees had fallen out or turned into yellow or orange leaves; The colors I see in my eyes are green, red, and yellow. These beautiful and colorful colors make me amazed. The beautiful picture presented by nature in front of me is very healing. It reminds me of the history of park protection mentioned in the article "Alley Pond Park." I am very grateful to all those who protect the natural ecology.

On our nature walk last week I observed many differences from the first nature walk we took. One of the differences I noticed was the change in the colors of the leaves, before the colors of the leaves on the trees were green like in every other season but since autumn started the leaves became orange, red, and yellow and there were a lot of dead leaves on the ground. I also noticed the weather change, in our first nature walk there wasn't much wind and it was pretty hot but during this nature walk, it was windy and quite cold. The floor was also wet because of the rain caused by weather changes.

Last week we visited Oakland lake which is different than our first nature walk. In our first nature walk, we saw the color of the tree was green. After observing the lake, we saw the trees that color is changed. I observed that the weather was much colder than before. In this nature walk, I can not see any turtle that I saw in my last nature walk. Also, people's dress up also changed because of the weather.

During our nature walk I noticed how the leaves have changed from the last time that we were there. The weather was much cooler that that time as well. The connection that I can make is that we will be using the park for our esssay 3.
