Not counting "Life" in this? I've been settling Lichen vs Moss for a couple hours now.

That's a good point, and mostly just my bad... I forgot about Life? Sigh. Well the good news is that API-counted IDs will be just all IDs in one big group no matter what observations they were on.

Right now there's 34,394 obs in Life, which is much fewer than I would have guessed.

Here's a miscellaneous fact: There are 427 unknowns that are stuck at unknown because their observer has opted out of community taxon.

But what was the whole number of Need ids? Can it be shown?

Do you want to know just "Needs ID" in general? Sure, you can see that here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&quality_grade=needs_id&subview=map It is just over 34 million (34,060,468) but I did not note down the exact number at the start of the event.

Unknowns under 258,000 - it's progress! I've found a few slam dunks, which are pretty fun when you can jump to species.

Anotado por egordon88 hace mas de 2 años

@arboretum_amy yes, thank you, we can take a rounded number as a start.)

Anotado por marina_gorbunova hace mas de 2 años

@egordon88 - I love those ones you can get straight to species!

Anyone else cross-eyed after only an hour and a half of IDing Unknowns? Apparently, that's as long as I can take at one time.

If someone sees an observation with eggs like these https://www.jungledragon.com/image/54847/sialis_lutaria_-_ovae.html ided either insecta or pterygota, please id them as Sialids, I spent half an hour trying to find it in reviewed and I can't, could be updated up to 3 months before, but not older.

Unknowns is 6 K down ...

Anotado por dianastuder hace mas de 2 años

I've had a slow day and all I can say is that my notifications inbox is dead. You guys are spamming me with over 100 an hour, which even by my standards is a LOT.

Anotado por astra_the_dragon hace mas de 2 años

10,000 fewer after ~24 hours!

Anotado por egordon88 hace mas de 2 años

@trh_blue, do you mean that, as soon as you take something out of Unknowns into a Kingdom or wherever, others are coming along right behind you, taking that new Kingdom ID down to Family or Genus?

Anotado por lynnharper hace mas de 2 años

I added "Flowering plants" to an observation that had been unknown since September, and about 10 minutes later @arboretum_amy had it down to genus. I was super impressed. You guys are on fire!

and 14K down!

Anotado por dianastuder hace mas de 2 años

Yes, exactly. It doesn't help that in the days preceding the event I had made a good thousand coarse IDs. I have 1210 notifications right now and alive been chipping away at them all day.

Anotado por astra_the_dragon hace mas de 2 años

@trh_blue and I've been adding to them for the past few hours 😅
