Found growing on shaded rocks in the lower intertidal to subtidal zones from southern British Columbia to Nayarit, Mexico.

Grows 2 to 8 cm tall. Dichotomous branching, broad and flat blades. Prostrate axes (stolons) that are cylindrical strings are easy characteristics to identify.
