Scytosiphon dotyi is abundant during winter/spring on rocky substrate in the mid to upper intertidal zones. Usually restricted to vertical surfaces. Ranges from Oregon to Baja California (MAC).
Greenish to light brown unbranched thallus made of slightly flattened cylindrical tubes; tubes are sometimes twisted. Has hairs in dense tufts in small depressions on the surface. Usually ~10 cm long in dense clumps. Similar to S. lomentaria but smaller and tubes are smooth without constrictions.
