Previously Hapterophycus canaliculatus, common in mid shore pools in warmer water parts of southern California from Redondo Beach, CA to Isla San Benito, Baja California.
Yellowish brown, thick cartilaginous crust. Crust becomes darker and develops lumps that become haptera like growths that cover the crust surface.
