Setwing Extravaganza!

Hi Everyone,

Swift setwings are now being reported across 9 counties in Ohio! Many are found at quarry lakes, but some are being found at small ponds and rivers. We still don't know if this is a natural spread or if they are getting a little help. It is peak season for Setwings now, so consider visiting a quarry lake and see if you can find any! Consider also stopping at local fish hatcheries or garden centers. I also have factsheets available for those who would like to learn more.

Potential sites: (Also generally undersurveyed areas, so lots of county record potentials)
Quarry Park in Marion
Lake Lila Camp in Newcomerstown
Richwood Lake Park

For those considering visiting private property, I have created a private landowners letter and also a car display. These are also available on the resources page.

Upcoming events:
August 4, 2018: 10-2PM Bugstravanza at Walnut Woods Metro Park (Groveport, Ohio).
August 6, 2018: 5:30 Meigs SWCD Conservation Area - Dragon Walk. We will also be going down earlier and staying the night to do additional searches in Meigs Co if you would like to join. Please email MaLisa at spring.99@osu.edu if you would like to attend the small group event.
August 10, 2018: 10 AM – Burr Oak State Park Intro Presentation and Dragon Walk
August 18, 2018: All About Dragons! (Wilmot, Ohio) The Wilderness Center
August 25, 2018. Ohio Dragonfly Walk at the Rocky River Reservation (Cleveland, Ohio)

That is all! The season is nearing the end! Get out there and find things while they are still flying!
