I'm currently living in the burn scar of the Cameron Peak Fire in Colorado and started using iNaturalist as a way to track invasive thistles on my family's land and surrounding Forest Service land. This evolved into using it to identify all sorts of unknown plants and animals in the area out of curiosity. I'm also using it to track plants like Big Sagebrush at first seemed to have been almost entirely wiped out in this area by the wildfire. To my delight, I've been discovering individual plants in my wanderings that somehow made it through.
