Hello, I am Satoshi Toyoshima.

Being an amateur naturalist, my main interest is focused on alpine plants around the world.

Many alpine plants in Japan originate from migration from north to south when it was connected to the continent in glacial period. Species widely distributed in Kuril islands, Kamchatka and Alaska can also seen in high mountain areas of Japan. I like to observe alpine plants in Japan and think of the long journey they have gone through in their history.

I used to stay in Taiwan and New Zealand for several months, making quite a few exciting and memorable expeditions there. I hope to be able to expand my field of observation in the future and deepen my knowledge about floras around the globe.
