I'm a wildlife biologist, retired from state service in June 2020. I Spent my career with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and Department of Transportation. Nature study has been both my career and my fulfilling past-time. I co-authored a book on the amphibians of Washington and Oregon, in 1995. I've also published a set of dot distribution maps for Washington's reptiles and amphibians, part of the Northwest Fauna series. I enjoy photographing wildlife. My more recent interests include butterflies and bumblebees. I'm enjoying driving all over Washington, catching and chilling bumblebees so they can be photographed and the photographs unloaded to Bumblebee Watch. Learning the plants that bumblebees are gathering pollen from has been an ongoing challenge.
