I'm raised up and living in the village Pfaffstätten, 20km south of Vienna at a small millrace, that was in use between 1250 to 1935, where in recent years the flow was heavily reduced from >0.5m³/s to app. 0.1m³/s only. But, as it passes through the town Baden before, and because sealing of land is still ongoing and the likelihood of intense rain is rising, in such cases >2m³/s are possible in short time. I'm electrical engineer, working in Vienna in a large research and testing institute, since 2008 mainly in the field of photovoltaics, see https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5314-1304.
In my house-garden I cultivate fruit trees (mainly older varieties of apples and pears), and vegetables, and have a bit grassland, I cut only a few times a year.
Beside my primary job as a researcher in renewable energy I'm owner of two vineyards and therefore a (tiny) winemaker too, producing a few 100 liters of white wine. One is a "Gemischter Satz" (= mixed variety of grape types cultivated in the same vineyard, and the other "Zierfandler" (indigeneous here in the "Thermenregion" south of Vienna), see also https://www.thermenregion-wienerwald.at/gastronomie-thermenregion/a-karl-berger. My grandfather, a cutler made also his own Wine from his quite steep, south oriented vineyard in Pfaffstätten-Einöde between 1950 and 1970, then turned into a extensively used dry grassland, that is every autumn grazed by lamas and other animals, https://www.lamaste.at/.
I'm now with iNaturalist because of a project monitoring neobiota in the area, https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/neobiota-netzwerk-natur-region-thermenlinie-wiener-becken, and as I'm in general interested in nature and have a large variety of habitates at my own land (from brookside and vineyards at 215m a.s.l to dry grassland ranging up to 350m a.s.l) I try to document the flora and fauna there as well.
