I am a Hymenopterist (with particular specialism in aculeata - working predominantly in Lancashire) reviewing Bombus records for the Cumbria Bombus Atlas that should see the light of day at some point this year. I - and B Hargreaves, as I-nat seems to log me in as either Hargz or B Hargreaves - one and the same - may need to comment on certain observations on i-nat (even if this is simply to agree on observations made by yourselves as contributors), that will potentially saturate contributors dashboards. I am only commenting on post (even when I agree with one or more comments) to ensure that the records have been reviewed and can be submitted as such (in line with the more stringent i-record verification process) to be included in the Cumbria Atlas. The records on i-nat are much higher in volume than they are from other main sources, other than BWARS (e.g. i-record, Cumbria LRC / CBDC, museums etc) and it has been requested by the Atlas authors (Cumbria WT and associated species profile authors) that I review ALL i-at data - irrespective of grade or level of agreement. This may result - as Roy Lowry has pointed out to me - that your dashboards become saturated with lots of posts........I can only apologise for this and ask that if you genuinely disagree with one of my identifications (whether in agreement or disagreement) to contact me so we can discuss.....and - if you can - to just ignore replicate comments on verification of species I.D. if it floods your dashboard. This will only happen for a v. limited period (a couple of weeks?) while the Cumbria Bombus records (from all sources) are reviewed. Thanks - in advance - for your patience and contributions.
