About me

I’m a 9th grader at the Sharon Academy in Sharon VT. My main focus is all moths but I am best at identifying moths in the superfamily Bombycoidea. I like light trapping for moths and flint knapping. I'm also interested in mosses (especially aquatic and semi-aquatic species, sphagnum and some other groups of pleurocarps), beetles (especially June and longhorn beetles), lichens, ferns, leaf miners, mushrooms and gall making insects. Thank you for helping me identify my photos. Here is a project that shows what insects I get at my light traps. My favorite natural comunities are wetlands and alpine and subalpine environments.

Identifications

I mostly Id moths, focusing on superfamily Bombycoidea. My knowledge doesn't extend very far beyond superfamily Bombycoidea but I can identify many of the moths that come to light traps around me. I also sometimes ID galls. Feel free to tag me if you need help with a ID.

  • Specimens

I will accept specimens of June beetles, especially Phyllophaga for identification purposes. If you see a pinned specimen in my observations that you would like for your collection or for research then feel free to contact me. I rarely collect species that can be easily identified through photos so most of my specimens are purely for identification purposes.
