My work has involved endangered bird studies with the National Park Service in the United States for most of the years of my career. I am interested in the relationship between form and function, restoration of natural systems, and working for the sustainability of the planetary community of life. I encourage humankind to pace itself and find ways to persist on this fascinating planet. We are a fascinating species worth conserving. By prioritizing sustainability as a value and as a planning approach, we might enjoy another 200,000 years of the Homo sapiens experience. The broader view of the human experience, our genus, has been on the planet for over 2,000,000 years. Perhaps we should make a go at another 2,000,000.
