I caught one of the two bass that were spawning. They were a bed protecting their eggs in shallow water. It was around sundown so where the fish become more active since the sunlight is not as hot. Hot sunlight makes fish more lethargic. There were many bluegills attempting to eat the eggs. When I saw that there were many bluegills around it, I decided to fish with a live bluegill caught around the same area, on a waxworm. The bluegills would flee and run away, as the bass were more interested in protecting the future generation instead of feasting on bait fish. So then I switched to a life like bluegill imitation lure that I could control myself. I positioned the lure on the specific spot that the eggs were on. The bass were very agitated by this so they swallowed the whole thing in. I then managed to bring this 16.5 in bass on the dock. This bass was safely returned to the bed so that they could reproduce.
